Sri Ramar

Sri Vadapathira Kaliamman Temple Lord Ramar is the seventh avatar (incarnations) of Vishnu. He is seen with his escort – Sita and brother- Lakshmanan.

Lord Rama is the immortal hero of the great religious epic of India, the Ramayana. Lord Ramar appeared on Rama Navami. He is known as Maryatha Purushottama and is the emblem of righteousness.

Ramar lived during the end of the Treta Yuga or the second stage of the world, when the sages, the holy men and evens gods were terrorized and alarmed by the misdeeds of Ravana, the democratic king of Lanka, Ravana. Lord Vishnu promises to descend on the earth as a son to Dasaratha of Ayodhya.

The personality of Lord Rama in the Ramayana stands out unique and the most glorious as compared to any other character described in the scriptural literature. Sri Ramar was at once, a perfect son, ideal king, a true husband, a real friend, a devoted brother, a noble enemy and so on.

A peculiarity noticed in the personality of Lord Rama is that he is seen to be carrying his bow and arrows at all times. The wielding of bows and arrows symbolizes the preparedness and strength to maintain peace and justice at all times.

In certain parts of India, deepavali is celebrated as the day Rama was crowned after the returnto Ayodhya with Sita after 14 years of Exile.
